Cute Earring Boxes and Halloween Earrings

Good morning! I have a fun project to share with you today!

I recently found a company that makes dies to create fun earrings at home and I couldn’t wait to start making some holiday ones. I knew as soon as the dies and leather arrived I was going to make earring boxes.

I did a google search for svg’s to cut and found a great three piece set over on etsy. I decided to create Halloween boxes and earrings and knew the dew drops were the perfect accent for the fronts.

Once I cut both boxes out (I used the same sheet of patterned paper and just turned it over) I started decorating the front of each with different die cut stickers. Once I had the front’s how I liked I added my dew drops. For the witchy legs I used OBSIDIAN DIAMOND DEW DROPS in two of the corners.

For the pumpkin box I used the CITRINE DIAMOND DEW DROPS. I added these down the left side of the box to give it a longer look.

For the earrings I used the inner card that cuts with the svg and added my earrings. I left the cards plain so the earrings stood out better.

Thanks for taking a look and I hope you’ll give these boxes a try. You can use them for so many other things!

Sparkly DIamond Candle Holder

Hello, on the blog with Robin’s Nest dew drops and a beautiful candle holder!  I love using dew drops for all kinds of home decor projects.

Supplies used –
candle
Art Glitter Glue
This project looks like it takes a long time to finish but in reality, I was probably about 1/2 an hour. It took the longest time to line up the red dew drops along the bottom and then from there adding the rest of the colors went pretty fast.
To start with, I lined up about 5 of the red dew drops then added a few of the orange ones this helped with keeping them straight. I also made sure to set the candle down on the table for adjustment.
I laid out my dew drops in rainbow colors and then started to glue then in place, completely covering the candle.

Cropping in the Time of Covid-19 (a scrapbook layout)

Hello and welcome – Shelly with you today sharing a scrapbook layout that is the first of several I will  be creating to document my experiences during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

I decided to create this layout about the last crop I attended before we were hit with lockdowns, shut downs and mandatory mask wearing – we were doing the “6 ft social distancing” but we were blissfully unaware of what was to happen the following week!  So I kept the tone of this layout bright and happy.

Supply List:

Original Dew Drops
Mini Dew Drops
Tear Drops
Diamond Dew Drops
Sequins
PhotoPlay Paper “You had me at Paper” collection
ScraPerfect Best Glue Ever
Tattered Angels Mists

Lots of layering, die cuts and stickers

I often decide after a layout is all glued down that I need some drips and sprays – so I just use a piece of scrap paper to mask off where I do not want the paint to hit

Now kick this layout up a notch with Dew Drops!

I like to dump out the Dew Drops and spread them around until it looks pleasing to my eye….

Mix in a few sequins, too

Thanks for stopping by the blog today – have a creative week!

How to Make a Meaningful Card During the Time of Covid19

Hello and welcome – Shelly with you today sharing a way to reach out to friends and loved ones while we are under this lock down and unable to be with the people we love!

While under quarantine, and all of the social distancing, I feel beckoned to participate in simple pleasures – like sending mail – REAL MAIL.  An encouraging card with a few handwritten lines inside is such a day-brightener!

Shelly’s Card “Recipe”

I am starting with my own personal “Card Recipe” for cutting my basic pieces:

  • Card base – Smooth White Cardstock cut to 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 folded in half
  • Card Mat (for color cardstock or patterned paper) cut to 4 x 5-1/4
  • Smooth OR textured White Cardstock cut to 3-3/4 x 5 for embossing or just highlighting your embellishments

There are so many jumping off places with these measurements!

I chose “Spa Colors” soothing blues and greens….

and  used Original Dew Drops and Mini Dew Drops to accent my embossing!

Wood Veneer pieces from Color Cast Designs

Butterflies represent HOPE & RENEWAL – perfect accent (especially with Pearl Diamond Dew Drops!)

Wood Veneer Butterflies – Michael’s Store Brand

Wondering what you should write?  “We’ll get through this together”, “Miss Your Face”, You are LOVED!”

Send a card this week!!

Thanks for stopping by – have a creative week!!

Create an Art Journal Collage featuring Dew Drops

Hello all,

Lori here, with a new project for you.  I have been doing a lot of collage with reuse and recycled materials lately and thought I would showcase this technique in my post today, with the addition of dew drop embellishments, of course.

Collage is an economical way to create terrific art work.  Scraps of this and that can be brought together to create layers of color and texture.  Anything goes, really!  Scraps of fabric, paper, mesh, playing cards, and other ephemera are all good materials to use.  Step by steps are shown below.

The Robins Nest:

Other Materials:
  • Lost Coast Design Stamps – Little Diamond Background, ATC Misc. Set 6
  • DecoArt – White Gesso, DuraClear Matte Varnish
  • Tsukineko ink – StazOn Pigment, Piano Black
  • Beacon – 3-IN-1 Advanced Craft Glue
  • Tim Holtz Idea-ology – Small Talk Stickers
  • Collage Materials

Instructions:

1) Prep a 6″ x 6″ art journal by cutting an old record sleeve into 6″ x 6″ panels.  Whole punch one side of each panel so that you can bind them with book rings.  Cover both sides of each panel with white gesso.

2) With StazOn Pigment Ink – Piano Black, stamp the panel with a diamond patterned background stamp as well as with a script stamp.
3) Start to adhere different collage materials to the panel.
4) Continue to build layers with collage materials.
5) Embellish panel with miniature gold dew drops.
6) Adhere a sticker saying to the page.
7) Embellish with mini-pearl dew drops.
8) Edge panel with StazOn Pigment – Piano Black.
9) Embellish with Black Dew Drop Diamonds.

I hope you have enjoyed this project and will give collage a try.  If you haven’t been saving scraps of paper, fabric etc… materials like these can be found at 2nd hand shops or at local creative reuse centers.

Happy Day!
Lori
