Shiny Butterfly Collage

Hello, today I am on the blog with Robin’s Nest using their dew drops in a collage project. Summer is winding down but there are still a few butterflies around here.
To create this collage, I started by attaching a napkin with common plastic wrap to a canvas panel. To attach a napkin to almost any surface, on an ironing board or towel cover with a piece of paper larger than your piece that will be covered with the napkin, lay the canvas panel or cardstock down cut off the plastic wrap to slightly overlap the panel. Then lay the napkin over that then lay another piece of printer paper over the sandwich and iron for a few seconds, keep the iron moving. This will melt the plastic wrap and adhere the napkin to any surface.

I used a Butterfly from Clear Scraps and used silver embossing powder on it to cover the surface, I covered it twice to get good coverage and shine. I then added Robin’s Nest dewdrops to the butterfly and to the canvas panel in several colors to match the flowers. I glued the butterfly down to the canvas and added the words along with drilling holes and adding the wire.

A Journal Page

Hello everyone, I have been working in my art journal again and made a tutorial for you showing how I use Dew Drops on my pages.

The supplies I used in this project are:
  • Sun Yellow Dew Drops and Amber Diamonds
  • Embellishment glue
  • Book paper
  • Matte medium
  • Gesso
  • Punchinello
  • Teabag paper
  • Washi tape
  • Embellishments
  • Acrylic marker
  • Golden acrylic – teal  & Pthalo Green (Blue Shade),  Raw Umber
  • Black ink and sponge

Follow the steps below:

Use matte medium to stick down bits of book paper on your journal page. Allow it to dry.

Give a thin coat of gesso to push back into the background.

Begin to add your paint. I used an old credit card instead of a paintbrush.

Add more detail with bubble wrap.

Once again add a thin coat of gesso.

Glue on tea bag paper and your embellishment.

Add any words, quotes, etc, more embellishments and finally your Dew Drops.

That’s it! Another beautiful journal page using Dew Drops.

A Valentine’s Day Tag

Hello,  welcome to another tutorial. My post today is inspired by Valentine’s Day which is coming up next month. I love using a holiday as an excuse to design something new! I really love how this tag came out and it was really simple to make. The best part is I did some upcycling. The tag is cut out from the cardboard backing of a Bristol that finished and the heart is cut out from the front. Crafting really does not need to be expensive.

I have prepared a video tutorial for you showing exactly how I made this tag.  The supply list is as follows:

Dew Drops

Brown Dew Drops
Brown Tear Drops

Other supplies:

  • chipboard tag cut out
  • book paper cut in the shape of the tag
  • glue stick
  • Distress Ink – Vintage Photo & brush to apply
  • heart cut out
  • black gesso
  • white gesso
  • red acrylic painting – I used Americana Dark Scarlet
  • charcoal pencil
  • quote or sentiment
  • black ink pad and sponge – I used Versafine Black Onyx
  • raffia
  • Nuvo Embellishment Glue
Follow along in the video below:
